Learning in KS1

At Appleton, we recognise the importance of learning through play and we therefore follow a play-based curriculum in Reception and Year 1. We are confident that short high-quality teacher inputs are more effective, and greater support our children's engagement, motivation, mental health and wellbeing. While Year 2 follows a more formalised approach to learning, there is still a strong focus on hands-on practical learning.

Outdoor learning is a key feature in KS1 and is integrated throughout the curriculum.
